Mechanical Product Development & Prototyping

From early concepts to physical metal prototypes and manufacturing-ready designs. Vantor combines mechanical engineering, CAD and hands-on fabrication to help businesses develop, refine and prepare mechanical products for production.

  • Staged work with defined deliverables
  • CAD, calculations and FEA when justified
  • Prototypes built in-house, with partners when needed

From Product Concept to Manufacturable Design

Engineering decisions stay connected to how the parts will actually be made. You can commission one of these activities, or several, as the project requires.

  • Concept Development

Turn a defined requirement, preliminary design or mechanical concept into a practical direction: feasibility, mechanisms, alternatives and the early decisions that shape the product.

  • Detailed Mechanical Design

3D CAD models, assemblies, component design, material selection and calculations or FEA where the application justifies them.

    Mechanical Design, CAD & FEA

  • Metal Prototyping & First Articles

Prototype parts and welded assemblies for fit, form, assembly and manufacturability. Vantor welds, drills, taps, fits and assembles in-house. Cutting, forming, machining and finishing are arranged with manufacturing partners when the part requires them.

    Custom Metal Fabrication

  • Prototype Refinement

Revise the design from prototype fit, assembly results, functional feedback and customer testing. Iteration is a scoped stage, with the changes and deliverables agreed before the work starts.

  • Design for Manufacturing & Cost

Review geometry, materials, methods, part count and assembly so production can be simpler. The review identifies practical cost drivers. It does not promise a particular saving.

  • Production Preparation

Manufacturing drawings, CAD files, bills of materials when they are in scope, and the information a supplier needs. This supports the step from a development prototype toward repeatable production. Full-scale manufacturing or a production launch is included only when it is agreed separately.

What Can We Help You Prototype?

Recognizable kinds of mechanical work this service can cover. These are examples, not a list of completed Vantor projects.

  • New Mechanical Products

Physical products, functional assemblies and mechanical subsystems developed from a defined commercial requirement.

  • Fabricated Metal Prototypes

Brackets, frames, enclosures, mounts and welded assemblies made to check a design in metal.

  • Industrial Equipment Components

Custom mechanical components for machinery and equipment, developed with the installation and the manufacturing method in mind.

  • Product Redesigns

Existing parts reviewed for performance, manufacturability or cost, then updated within an agreed scope.

  • Pre-Production Samples

Initial articles for fit checks, assembly trials or an evaluation of the manufacturing process.

A Practical, Staged Development Process

A business can engage Vantor for a single stage. Not every project needs all four, and later stages are authorized only after the current results are reviewed.

  1. Step 1

    Define the Product Requirements

Review the business objective, existing information, constraints, intended use and scope, then agree the most useful first paid stage.

  2. Step 2

    Develop the Mechanical Design

Create or refine the CAD, choose the mechanical approach and assess how the parts will be made. Calculations or FEA are used when the application justifies them.

  3. Step 3

    Build & Evaluate a Prototype

Fabricate the prototype parts that are appropriate, assemble them and assess fit and practical function, including agreed testing and your feedback.

  4. Step 4

    Refine & Prepare for Manufacturing

Update the design and produce the agreed production-oriented documentation, including suitable processes and what a supplier will need.

Product Development Experience, Backed by Manufacturing Knowledge

Pablo Yorio leads Vantor. His previous career includes approximately 18 years in mechanical product development and manufacturing, a master's degree in mechanical engineering, and leadership of engineering and production teams.
