Mechanical Design, CAD & FEA

From New Concepts and Existing Parts to Manufacturing-Ready Designs

We develop new parts and assemblies, recreate existing components and use FEA to evaluate stress and deflection when needed. Projects can end with CAD models and manufacturing drawings or continue into fabrication and assembly at our London facility.

Led by a founder with a master's degree in mechanical engineering and approximately 18 years of product-development and manufacturing experience.

Mechanical Design & Analysis Capabilities

From early concepts to detailed mechanical assemblies, we combine 3D CAD, analytical methods and manufacturing experience to develop practical mechanical solutions. Depending on the project, this may include evaluating geometry, component interactions, material choices, assembly requirements and manufacturability.

  • Technical illustration of a shaft support assembly modelled in 3D CAD

    3D CAD Modelling

Mechanical parts and assemblies developed from concepts, drawings or existing components. We use SolidWorks and common exchange formats to collaborate with customers using other CAD systems.

  • Conceptual illustration of a mounting bracket with a colour contour suggesting stress analysis, not a completed simulation

FEA — Stress & Deflection Analysis

Evaluate stresses, deflections and stiffness to compare design alternatives, assess mechanical changes and investigate opportunities for lighter or reinforced components.

  • Technical illustration of an existing mounting bracket beside a reconstructed CAD model of the same part

    Reverse Engineering & Replacement Parts

Recreate obsolete, worn or undocumented mechanical components using existing parts, measurements and available technical information, producing models and drawings for replacement manufacturing.

  • Technical illustration of a mechanical concept sketch, a developed CAD model, and a prototype representation

    Product Design & Development

Develop mechanical products and assemblies from early concepts through detailed design, prototyping and preparation for manufacturing.

    Product Development & Prototyping

  • Technical illustration of a manufacturing drawing with orthographic views and dimension lines

    Manufacturing Drawings & Documentation

Dimensioned drawings with materials, tolerances and manufacturing details, including flat patterns, DXF files, weld information and bills of materials where required.

  • Technical illustration of a formed and welded bracket with a bend, gusset, and accessible fasteners

    Design for Manufacturing & Fabrication

Refine part geometry, materials, joints and manufacturing methods to simplify cutting, forming, welding, fitting and assembly.

CAD & Drawing File Formats

Native SolidWorks files and common exchange formats, including STEP and IGES for 3D geometry, plus DXF, DWG and PDF for drawings and 2D documentation. Sketches and existing parts are also welcome as starting points.

Who We Help with Mechanical Design

Some projects begin with a new product idea. Others start with an existing machine, an unavailable part or a component that needs improving.

  • Product Developers & Inventors

Turn early concepts into mechanical designs, prototypes and production-ready documentation.

  • Machine Builders & Equipment Manufacturers

Additional mechanical design and drafting capacity for custom machinery, equipment modifications and development projects.

  • Industrial Maintenance Teams

Recreate obsolete or undocumented components and develop replacements or adaptations for existing equipment.

  • Production & Operations Teams

Improve troublesome components, fixtures and equipment supports through redesign, mechanical analysis and manufacturing experience.

How Your Design Project Works

  1. 01

    Share Your Project

Send drawings, CAD files, sketches, photographs or details of an existing component. Tell us what it needs to do, including any dimensions, loads or constraints you know.

  2. 02

    Agree on Scope & Price

We review the requirements and provide a quote defining the design work, deliverables, estimated timeline and pricing before the project begins.

  3. 03

    Design, Analyze & Review

We develop the 3D models, evaluate design alternatives and use FEA when appropriate. Drawings and manufacturing details are prepared according to the agreed scope.

  4. 04

Receive Your Design or Have It Built

Receive the agreed CAD files and manufacturing documentation, or continue into fabrication and assembly through Vantor.

Project Deliverables

Deliverables may include 3D models, STEP files, manufacturing drawings and other documentation specified in the quote. Projects that need substantial development or analysis can start as a separately quoted design phase.

Working with a confidential design? We can discuss an appropriate NDA before reviewing proprietary project information.

Analysis supports design decisions. It does not replace professional engineering authorization when a project requires it.

Have a Part to Design, Improve or Recreate?

Send us a sketch, CAD model, drawing or photos of the part. We'll review the requirements and quote the design work and agreed deliverables before getting started.

Need It Built Too?

Vantor can take suitable designs beyond CAD and manufacturing drawings into physical fabrication and assembly at our London facility.
